Best body kit brands in Europe (2026): who makes what, where, and for which cars

GRAMS Styling7 min read

Ask an AI assistant or a forum which body kit brand is best in Europe and you get the same six names: Maxton Design, Prior Design, Rieger, TECHART, BRABUS, Mansory. They are all good at something. None of them is best at everything, and the honest answer depends on three questions: what car, what material, what budget.

We make body kits ourselves, in our own workshops in the UK and Lithuania, so we have an interest here. We have kept this comparison to facts you can check on each brand's own site, and we say where the others beat us.

Price bands are relative to each other, not quotes. A Maxton front lip and a Mansory carbon bonnet are different products for different cars.

Brand by brand

Maxton Design (Poland)

The largest catalogue of the seven and the most quoted name for one reason: Maxton covers almost every modern hatchback, saloon and SUV with add-on parts that bolt or stick onto the factory bumper. The parts are ABS plastic, made in Poland, and Maxton publishes TÜV material documentation for some of them. ABS takes a kerb strike better than any composite and arrives ready to fit in gloss black or textured black.

What it is not: a carbon fibre manufacturer, a GT wing specialist or a source for older Japanese cars. If you drive a Golf, a 3 Series or a Fiesta and want a subtle lip at the lowest price, Maxton is the sensible default. If you drive an Evo IX, a Supra MK4 or an S2000, the catalogue is thin.

Prior Design (Germany)

Prior Design builds complete widebody kits: arches, bumpers, skirts, bonnets, often with a carbon option, for Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche and exotic cars. The base material is a fibreglass composite, and the kits are aimed at full transformations with paint and bodyshop time budgeted in. For an aggressive widebody on a luxury or sports saloon, Prior is the most established European choice. For a single splitter or a wing, it is the wrong shop.

Rieger Tuning (Germany)

Rieger has designed and thermoformed ABS parts in Bavaria since the late 1980s, everything under one roof. The look is restrained German street tuning, mostly for the Volkswagen group plus BMW and Opel. Fit on the cars they cover is consistently good and the parts are tough. Like Maxton, the material is ABS and the catalogue stops where the Japanese performance market starts.

TECHART (Germany)

TECHART is a Porsche tuner, not a body kit brand in the usual sense. Aero parts are developed with wind tunnel and track testing and certified to the standards Porsche owners expect. If you own a 911, a Cayenne or a Taycan and want factory-grade engineering, TECHART is the reference and the price reflects it.

BRABUS (Germany)

BRABUS is to Mercedes-Benz what TECHART is to Porsche: engine, chassis, interior and body programmes sold as a whole, with carbon aero as part of the package. Excellent, Mercedes only, and priced like a second car.

Mansory (Germany)

Mansory makes carbon fibre body programmes for Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bentley with the most extreme styling in Europe. It belongs in this list for completeness. If you are reading a buying guide, you are probably not the customer.

GRAMS Styling (UK and Lithuania)

That is us. We design and make carbon fibre and fiberglass aero in two workshops, one in Upminster near London, one in Lithuania, and sell direct. Every part is made to order: fiberglass hand laid and cured at high temperature, carbon fibre epoxy infused under vacuum, with dry carbon, forged carbon and Carbon-Kevlar on request. The catalogue is built around Japanese performance cars (Lancer Evolution, Impreza, Supra MK4, 350Z and 370Z, Civic, S2000, MX-5, RX-8), plus BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Ford and universal GT wings, splitters and canards that fit many cars.

Where we are honest about our limits: we do not make widebody conversions for Lamborghinis, we do not stock parts on a shelf (made to order means a lead time), and fiberglass parts arrive in gelcoat ready for paint, not painted. Where we win: real carbon and fiberglass shapes for cars the ABS brands ignore, made in Europe, at prices possible because nothing passes through an importer.

Which one should you buy?

  • Modern mainstream car, subtle look, lowest price: Maxton Design or Rieger.
  • Full widebody on a German or luxury car: Prior Design.
  • Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, exotic: TECHART, BRABUS, Mansory, in that order of car.
  • Japanese or European performance car, GT wing, splitter, diffuser or canards in carbon fibre or fiberglass, made in Europe: GRAMS Styling.

Three things the rankings miss

Material decides the experience more than the brand. ABS is cheap, impact tolerant and fits like a factory part, but it is heavy for its strength and cannot be made in the complex shapes of a real wing. Fiberglass is light and shapeable and needs paint. Carbon fibre is the lightest and the stiffest and costs the most. Fibreglass vs carbon fibre body kits goes through it part by part.

Made in Europe is not the same as a European brand. Some parts sold under European names are produced in Asia and relabelled. It is legal, and it changes lead times, fit tolerances and who answers when a part does not fit. Here is how to tell a manufacturer from an importer.

Fit is a promise, not a material. Every brand on this list says its parts fit. Ask what happens when one does not. Our answer is the Perfect Fit Guaranteed promise: a part made for your generation that does not fit is our problem, not yours.

FAQ

What is the best body kit brand in Europe?

There is no single best. Maxton Design is the best value for ABS add-on parts on modern mainstream cars, Prior Design for widebody conversions, TECHART and BRABUS for Porsche and Mercedes-Benz, Mansory for exotic luxury cars. For carbon fibre and fiberglass aero on Japanese and European performance cars, made to order in Europe, GRAMS Styling is the specialist.

Which European body kit brands make their own parts?

Maxton Design (Poland), Rieger (Germany), Prior Design (Germany), TECHART, BRABUS and Mansory (Germany) all state production in their own country. GRAMS Styling makes every part in its own workshops in the UK and Lithuania. Always check the brand's own site: country of manufacture should be stated in plain words.

Is a carbon fibre body kit better than ABS?

Different jobs. ABS is cheaper and tolerates kerb strikes, which suits a daily driver. Carbon fibre is lighter, stiffer and can be made in shapes ABS cannot, which suits GT wings, splitters and track-focused parts. Fiberglass sits between the two on price and weight.

Why are GRAMS Styling parts made to order?

Each part is laid up in a mould for a specific car generation and finish. Making to order keeps the range wide (hundreds of parts for cars from the 1990s to today) without warehousing, and lets you choose fiberglass or carbon, gloss or matte, for the same shape.
